The exhibition "Turmac: Kavala-Constantinople-Amsterdam" organized by The Institute of Social Movements and Tobacco History in cooperation with the Tobacco Museum of Kavala and Public Benefit Organisation of the City of Kavala (DIMOFELIA) between 18-31 May, is dedicated to Osman Kavala. Below is the statement by The Institute of Social Movements and Tobacco History: 

"The Institute of Social Movements & Tobacco History in the context of the continuous efforts to promote the cultural assets of our area, whilst having as the main axis the tobacco cultivation, processing and merchandising, organized the thematic exhibition of TURMAC, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kavala and Dimofelia. The exhibition is based on the collection of George Thomareli, concerning the artefacts of the old tobacco merchant company TURMAC, which had its Headquarters in Kavala. The main building was today’s Municipal Library, which was built by TURMAC and its owner Kiazim Emin Bey.

As it was announced at the inauguration of the exhibition, the main goal is the purchase of the collection by The Institute of Social Movements & Tobacco History , which will be granted to the new Tobacco Museum of Kavala.

The exhibition closed with great success and it was dedicated to Osman Kavala, honorary resident of Kavala and founding member of IKKIK, who is imprisoned and the members of our Institute plan to visit soon."
